Estimates assume A4 with 2.54cm margins and no headings, tables or block quotations. Your actual page count will vary.

Almost every UK university sets assignment limits in words rather than pages, precisely because page counts can be manipulated. Most allow 10% either side of the stated limit.
What counts towards the limit varies by university, so it is worth checking. In-text citations usually count. Footnotes sometimes count. The reference list, tables, figures and appendices usually do not. Your handbook will say, and getting it wrong either way costs marks.
This tool handles the mechanical part. When the problem is judgement rather than formatting, our proofreading & editing service puts a UK subject specialist on it.
